ZAHRA KHALFAN

MA Clin Psychology

Thank you for visiting my site to learn more about my approach to therapy and how I work with clients.:

With over a decade of experience in the mental health field, I specialize in advocating for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health. My work spans across families, children, adolescents, and adults, helping individuals gain a deeper understanding of their emotions, behaviors, and challenges.

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University and a Bachelor's degree from Stony Brook University in New York. Additionally, I have completed post-master’s training in Parental Guidance and Education at Adelphi University . I am a graduate of the Canadian Institute for Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (CICAPP) program. Which is a 4 year program specializing in child and adolescent psychotherapy and I am a Registered Psychotherapist through the CRPO.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals and families facing severe trauma and various psychological conditions. My approach is holistic, combining thoughtful assessment with tailored treatment plans that support both the emotional and practical needs of my clients. As a BIPOC therapist, I embrace the many layers that shape our identities, striving to understand how culture, experience, and environment influence our sense of self and the world.

When working with children, I use play therapy as a core modality, ensuring that treatment is a collaborative effort with both children and their parents to foster growth and healing.
